How To Obtain Permissions

How Does RightsLink Work?

  1. Locate Content: Locate on the American Association for the Advancement of Science's (AAAS) Science Magazine website (http://www.sciencemag.org) the content you wish to reuse.

  2. Launch RightsLink: Click the Permissions link associated with the article you have just located. This will launch the RightsLink service.

  3. Quick Price: Follow the simple instructions to obtain a Quick Price quotation. The price you are charged involves many variables, such as number of pages of content being reused, requestor type, quantity, and a fee set by AAAS. In some cases there is no fee, but you will still obtain a permission agreement from AAAS. [NOTE: Some permission requests cannot be completed through RightsLink and require additional assistance from AAAS. If you select such a category, you will see a special instruction.] Click the Continue button to begin the order process. See also Payment and Pricing.

  4. Place Order: To place your order, you will be prompted to set up an account or confirm/edit account information; confirm your order; confirm your payment method; and accept the terms and conditions.

  5. Order Confirmation: An order confirmation is displayed listing the details of your RightsLink order. It offers additional links for viewing the terms and conditions, editing your account information, and editing your order specifications.

  6. E-mail Confirmation: An e-mail confirmation will be sent to you listing the details of your order. You may reuse the content upon receipt of the order confirmation e-mail, according to the license details and AAAS terms & conditions.
